Still Waiting / Saddam 'may have destroyed weapons'

BBC Report / US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld has said Iraq may have destroyed its weapons of mass destruction before the US went to war against Saddam Hussein in March. If this is true, then why the hell did we have to invade their country? The oft-stated reason was to destroy these weapons of mass destruction... are you going to weasel their way out by saying that we wanted to liberate the Iraqis?

Some liberation! They didn't rush out to greet us. They continue to attack our troops. This is not a liberation... this is an occupation and an immoral invasion of a nation.

Velvet Underground / "Candy Says"

I really dig this cover of the Velvet Underground's "Candy Says." it's on Martin Gore's new EP which you can now listen to over the net via QuickTime streaming... you can even put it in your iTunes playlist and listen to it as many times as you want.

Candy says...
I've come to hate my body,
and all that it requires in this world.
Candy says...
I'd like to know completely,
what others so discretely talk about.

I'm gonna watch the blue birds fly over my shoulder,
I'm gonna watch them pass me by.
Maybe when I'm older...
What do you think I'd see
If I could walk away from me?

Candy says...
I hate the quiet places,
that cause the smallest taste of what will be.
Candy says...
I hate the big decisions,
that cause endless revisions in my mind.

I'm gonna watch the blue birds fly over my shoulder,
I'm gonna watch them pass me by.
Maybe when I'm older...
What do you think I'd see
If I could walk away from me?

martin gore / a visitor from the United Nations?

OK, it's amazing that someone from the UN actually breezed by these pages today... wish you had left a note. must be for those excitin GW pictures.

saw Martin Gore at the Mayan here in los angeles this week (may 6). it was quite accidental and i have to thank my cousin Omid for thinking of me. it was a great show and a much better experience than any Depeche Mode show i'd seen in the past. the new songs were actually quite good and better than what i had been expecting. Martin seems oddly comfortable singing other people's music. he stiffens up when performing his own music which is ODD! there are recordings of the shows in Europe... hopefully the rumors that there will be an actual DVD from the show are true. i'd love to hear 'enjoy the silence' from the may 8 show.
